I have done business with this chap before. He is a talented clay sculptor who knows his craft. He took two paintings off my hands and was generous enough to give me a little extra because he understands what it’s like to be a struggling artist. If you read this, Rob, you’re a legend. Lately I’ve been messed around by too many people, family included, when it comes to selling my recent pieces so it was especially appreciated to make a sale to another artist who values the work. Marketplace hasn’t been treating me as well as it did in the past -zero sales lately - and almost all of the interest has come through my website, which can be tricky to find unless you type my name into Google. The money is great, of course, but more importantly I’m clearing canvases to make way for new pieces and I can continue painting which I need for my mental health. I went through five spray cans to cover old work that’s been sitting around, so hopefully that helps me sell some of it. Covering my work with white spray paint was difficult, but it’s the most resourceful option I have instead of heading to the art store and leaving with an empty wallet. At the end of the day I need to be creating, however that presents itself, so I’m looking forward to starting this eight-part series. I also received an invitation to a large art exhibition, which sounded great until I realised I’d need an ABN, something I’m not going to apply for, especially just for a single show.
