I prayed, I paced the house, and I nearly came to tears. Something monumental happened last night, and it took me sixteen hours to set it right. I lost my websites — gone, vanished. Five years of work felt like it had been swept away. In the confusion over what should have been a simple task, I made a foolish mistake and deleted all of my hard work. I likely have over a thousand paintings and a whole heap of other important stuff tied up in those sites. It was a rookie error, and I was on my own. There isn’t a single friend who uses Squarespace I could turn to, and of course there’s no phone number to call — everything is routed through AI. I felt utterly trapped.
I couldn’t let go of it, so I pulled an all-nighter, and after praying for help with this worldly issue, somehow things turned in my favour and I managed to get my complete works back online. Oh my God, what a relief that was. I was utterly sleep deprived and the whole night had been unbearably stressful. “It’s not the end of the world,” one person told me… um, yes — for me, it would have been the end of MY world. I won’t make that mistake twice, but I’ll need to put a reliable backup plan in place. Squarespace have made things difficult so that the files on their site are no longer compatible with Photoshop, so I’m going to tediously copy each photo and painting, convert them to JPEGs, and save them to a couple of USB drives and my external hard drives. THANK YOU, LORD!
